Alaska Department of Health, Division of Public Assistance (DPA) Software Enhancements

Project Brief

Providing access to affordable, safe, and quality childcare allows families to succeed in the workplace and attain self-sufficiency. To help keep childcare affordable, the DPA provides childcare subsidies that benefit low- and moderate-income families throughout Alaska. The agency also monitors childcare facilities to ensure the health and safety of children and promotes constant improvement to the quality of childcare in Alaska by providing financial assistance to 2,125 children served by over 370 licensed providers.

Wostmann provides ongoing programming support for DPA’s childcare support information system, a web-based application that connects to other systems that manage eligibility information and case management. These systems support federal mandates for public access to inspection information, licensing, and monitoring data about childcare providers in Alaska. Our team built new features and functionality and updated configurations and business rules to meet frequent changes in state and federal regulations. For this ongoing support effort, we provide complete system analysis, design, development, and testing, resulting in more changes being deployed.. The changes and enhancements require frequent investigation and revised data models and business rules to facilitate the desired or newly-required functions.
