Wostmann & Associates provides product development, technology integration and project management consulting services. The firm is familiar with methodologies and technologies that can be utilized as appropriate to fit the needs of the project. We focus on the business needs of the client, use proven development techniques and project management practices and provide the necessary technical experience, mentorship and project leadership. Working with the client, we endeavor to develop and/or lead projects whose solutions will be accepted within the organization as well as identify and help resolve the affected business processes. Ideally, senior leadership is engaged regularly for key decisions and to confirm the direction of a solution.
For our product solutions we understand your business first and define a technology solution to support it. By not being limited to a single platform or vendor, we are able to ensure that our clients get the best solution for their business needs. We assess your infrastructure, confirm the desired direction, and review emerging technologies to create a cost-effective system that works effectively within your existing environment. During a development effort, user involvement is fused throughout the process to ensure the needs are discovered and met; internal peer reviews, structured walkthroughs, and formal acceptance occurs at each milestone. The firm uses specialized techniques such as Extreme Programming, UML, and XML to enhance the process and quality of the resulting models. In addition, clients often have certain standards they require. We observe and follow existing customer standards, help define them when they do not exist or need updating, and use industry standards (e.g., IEEE) as the basis for our recommendations. To sustain a solution, we work side by side with the client team to enable knowledge transfer and ownership of the solution.
In terms of project management, our firm can provide the level of service necessary for the client or project. At times, basic project management mechanics is needed including enforcing standards, resolving Issues, budgeting, planning and reviewing status. Other times, the project requires focused leadership traits including coaching teams, visioning outcomes, aligning stakeholders, challenging assumptions, anticipating issues and impacts, drawing out concerns, managing expectations, providing structure and exhibiting knowledge and sound judgement. Many of our professionals are experienced project managers and leaders and we are familiar with the spectrum of capabilities and practices, including those of the Project Management Institute (PMI).
